Poor little blog...

I have been ignoring you pretty much for the last year almost, I apologize. Hockey season is right around the corner though, so it will be ok. Please forgive me. I promise I will talk about all the things I can, like what players left us (bye nate gerbe I will miss you) and who came back (hey Henrik, nice to see you again), and how Paul Gaustad got married (I don't even know when it happened but sobbing anyway). So there will be a lot to write about, and I will. I will.

July 1st is kind of scary to me.

People are talking it's like the Christmas of the NHL, but to me, it's scary. I mean, you get used to a set of guys making up your team, and then it is broken up and new people are added and it's weird.

Toni Lydman is off to Anaheim (I'm not sad, sorry) and Hank the tank is going to New Jersey (but he gets to play with Parise and Brodeur on his team, come on, that is awesome) so we say goodbye to some. We got a man by the name of Jordan Leopold, and I don't know much about him. I read he has been prone to concussions (hmmm) and really doesn't have any big, good stats to talk about. So we shall see. It's 3 years, so I just hope he doesn't end up the Raffi Torres of defense, because that will suck for 3 whole years. Oh well, time will tell.

Nothing really big happening with the Sabres camp though. I mean signing that one dude is just, eh. I want big action, but I have to realize I am a fan of the wrong team if I'm looking for that type of thing. I just can't believe that like 5 Blackhawks are gone, and I think 3 of them went to Atlanta or something like that, with Kris Versteeg going to Toronto and Adam Burish off to Dallas. That team was all shook up, geez. Their cap was crazy tight though, and with Kane and Toews needing to be under lock for a long time, there was just NO wiggle room for them. Sucks, but at least those guys got the cup and the love from the city before they left. Atlanta is going to have a brand new team come October, that's for sure.

The rumor mill goes crazy out of control during times like these though. I've heard that they are in talks with Torres to sign him for like 3 more years or something (hope this is FALSE) and that Lalime isn't going anywhere and that the Flyers want Kaleta. I also heard the Flyers wanted Tallinder and Lydman before they went to those other teams though, so it's all so crazy. No use in getting all nutty about it until it's finalized, so we'll have to see what else happens for the Sabres. Hopefully something good....maybe? Eh.

-whistles-

I have managed to miss pretty much anything going on with team USA men's hockey. I must be getting the schedules messed up, or I'm not home when it's on or something. I did manage to see Henrik Tallinder on team Sweden beat Jochen Hecht on team Germany. Everytime they said "plays for the Buffalo Sabres" I got all :D for them...hehe. I didn't realize they were changing Jochen's number for the olympics and couldn't find him when I started watching the game for a good ten minutes...ughh. Go me.

I think it's too early to be going through the withdrawl of no sabres hockey, but it's happening...sorta. I'm just missing getting all settled in and having it to watch and look forward to after work. I am going to aces and blades next Friday, so maybe that will help with some of this. I have never been to it, but it seems like a lot of fun. My fiancé is covering it as "media" for buffalo.com, so I will be tagging along with him. He tells me "I will be having to take pictures and notes and maybe do interviewing and stuff, so you will be on your own for some parts of the night" I was thinking "hmmm, oh boy, does he know what this might mean??" lol But, I will just be a big dork anyway, so it won't matter. He will probably find me sitting on a chair in a corner drinking coke and doing nothing at all exciting...haha.

I also got tickets to the March 10th game vs. Dallas. I have three games coming up in March, and my fiancé wants to get tickets to the game against Philly (his hometown team) so we will probably be doing that on the 5th as well. Four games in two weeks? Wowzas...hehe. I can't wait though. :)

On a side note, I watched a show on Sidney Crosby and the Stanley Cup on the NHL network. I watched him parade it around his hometown, wash it with dish soap (they allow that I guess??) and his family and friends just being overall proud. Makes me want a Stanley Cup here more than ever. Maybe someday...

Ok, so, March get here now please, thanks.

The Bruins in ruins?

I guess so, or from what I heard some guy say on tv...lol. It seemed to look like it after tonight's game though. I thought they were going to be a lot tougher to beat then they were, and so did Henrik Tallinder, as he said in the post game interview. He scored on them though, so I guess it wasn't too hard for him. Right off the bat Hank is out there scoring and he did it with such ease it seemed. Thomas Vanek scored one too, keeping him the number one goal scorer on the team.

There was a lot more pushing and shoving tonight then there was the last game, and a few more pushing and shoving type things that really didn't turn into anything big. I'm itching for a big, all out brawl. It's so weird, but I just am, I can't help it. Maybe when Philly is in town we can get that (and I really want to get tickets to that game) so maybe I will be able to see something live and in person. Woooo.

Funny picture I stumbled upon at sabres.com:

Little girl seems to like Mr. Kaleta. Little boy seems to think he is big, scary monster man. I think the both of them have it right...haha. The picture is just too funny.

I went and picked up my tickets for the March 3rd game vs. Washington and the March 13th game vs. Minnesota. It makes me want March to just be here already. I'm planning to get my taxes done any day, so maybe some of that money can go towards tickets for Philly and maybe something before that. Going to games is somewhat of an expensive hobby, but I can't help it.

No game until Monday now against Pittsburgh on Versus (ick) and then a home game against Ottawa on Wednesday. Two more points and two games in a row won. I think the boys are back! Game on!!!
